I know, I know, I've been slack.

Actually, consider it as having too much on my plate! Working full time and studying part time for the last 18 months hasn't left much time for anything else!

Nevertheless, I have filled hours of study procrastination with a new joy  - chainmaille.

Wait till you hold a piece of handcrafted sterling silver chain in your hot little hands and you're never going to want to wear anything else!

I'm making my own rings for exclusive use in my chainmaille jewellery. This involves starting off with a big roll of wire and making a really big coil (a bit like a long spring). Then I get out my vice and a jewellers saw and cut, cut, cut! Then the rings are tumbled to make them lovely and shiny and smooth out any sharp bits. THEN they get woven into the jewellery. A bracelet can take up to 12 hours, depending on the weave. Lastly, each piece is tumbled again to make it super shiny!
